 |
Implementation of the Ghana Poverty Reduction Strategy (GPRS) was the main focus of operational activities for the Poverty Reduction Unit of the NDPC. The outfit was therefore transformed into the GPRS implementation Unit as part of the UNDP funded programme - Wealth Creation and Social Development Programme (WCSDP). This programme is in the area of building capacities of all implementing bodies in the country especially the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), the Regional Planning Coordinating Units (RPCUs) and District Planning Coordinating Units (DPCUs). In 2003 the Programme assisted in the printing of Volumes 1 and 2 as well as the preparation of the simplified versions and the pamphlets of the GPRS documents. The WCSDP also supported the preparation of a Manual for the operationalisation of the (RPCUs) and (DPCUs). These were in addition to supporting the development of an NDPC website which was on-going. The outputs from the various capacity building programmes would provide a basis for preparation of the next Poverty Reduction Policy Framework [Poverty Reduction Strategy Credit (PRSC) and the Poverty Reduction Growth Facility (PRGF)] to facilitate sustainable poverty reduction and long-term growth. |
