The National Thanksgiving Church Service to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 4th Republic in Ghana saw a baton of Bible reading, starting with the first President of the fourth Republic to the last.

Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings, the first President of the Fourth Republic, was the first to start the Bible reading and picked his scripture from the book of Leviticus 25: 7-8.

Ex-President John Agyekum Kuffour, the second president of the Fourth Republic, read Psalm 100:1-5 while the fourth President of the fourth Republic, Mr John Dramani Mahama read the third scripture from Luke 12:16-21.

The service was attended by both present and past ministers and government appointees as well as members of the clergy and foreign diplomats.

Senior officers from the various security agencies, including the Military, Police, Prisons, Immigration, Customs, and Fire Service were there in their numbers.

Held at the Independence Square, attendees were entertained with various Christian hymns and songs, many of them Ghanaian in origin.
