NDPC organises policy hearings for MDA's

March 16, 2015, noon

The National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, has organised policy hearings with ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) in Accra.

The idea behind the policy hearings was to have in-depth discussion of MDA policy objectives as outlined in the National Medium-Term Policy Framework – the Ghana Shared Growth and Development Agenda (GSGDA II). This exercise was also meant to prevent duplication and to identify areas for collaborative policy interventions and funding among MDAs.

The policy hearings will provide input for the 2016 Budget framework and strategy for the President of Ghana. This is the first time the policy hearings have been held separately from the technical hearings. The hearings were structured by sector, beginning with the administration sector.

During the hearings, MDAs took turns to make PowerPoint presentations of their policies, strategies programmes, activities and projects for the medium term. Most presentations were accompanied with the estimated cost of implementation over the medium term as well as the targets to be achieved.
